As mass civil unrest over police brutality against African-Americans engulfs the nation, New York lawmakers took action Tuesday by voting to repeal 50-a, a state law used by police departments to shield disciplinary records.

And a little bit further down:

The bill passed along party lines in the Senate, 40-22, with all Republicans voting against the measure. The Assembly approved the measure 101-43 Tuesday evening, also along party lines.

So it seems Republicans still want to hide the records of cops who've...let's say, not acted in the best interests of the citizen they promised to serve.
